Your mail never reaches us
LocalInbox connects your Mac directly to your mail provider. There is no LocalInbox server in between, so we never receive, store or read your email, contacts, attachments or account passwords. Passwords are kept in the macOS Keychain on your Mac.
The AI features run on your Mac with Apple's on-device model. No message text is sent to us or to any AI provider.
The app has no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising identifiers.
What the app sends, and to whom
Besides your own mail servers, the app contacts only these, and only for the reason given:
- Licence checks: when you activate a key, and every 14 days while online, the app sends the licence key to the store it came from (Dodo Payments or Gumroad). For Dodo, it also sends Dodo's id for this Mac's activation and, on activation, a name for the Mac made of its model and a random tag (for example “Mac14,2 (3F9A)”), never your computer's name. Nothing about your mail or accounts is sent.
- Updates: once a day, if automatic checks are on, the app downloads the update feed from localinbox.app, with no cookies and no identifiers. Our host sees your IP address, as any website does.
- Company logos, only if you turn them on (off by default): the sender's domain is looked up so its logo can be shown. Never for personal addresses such as Gmail or iCloud.
- Remote images in a message, only after you choose to load them; unsubscribe links, only when you choose Unsubscribe; replies to calendar invitations, only when you answer.
Buying a licence
Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments or Gumroad, who act as the merchant of record: they take the payment, charge any sales tax or VAT, and send your receipt and licence key. Your card details go to them, never to us.
They share with us what we need to provide your licence and support: your name, email address, country, what you bought, the price paid and the licence key. Their own privacy policies cover what they do with your data.
This website
The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking scripts. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses and request details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
If you email us, we use your address and message only to answer you.
How long we keep it
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Support email: as long as needed to help you, and then up to two years in case you write again.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it (except purchase records we must keep by law). Depending on where you live, laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 or the EU and UK GDPR give you these rights and the right to complain to a regulator. Write to support@localinbox.app. We reply within two business days.
We do not sell or share your personal data for advertising.
Children
LocalInbox isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date on this page. If a change is significant, we'll say so on the website and in the app's release notes.
