What's new in LocalInbox

Every release, newest first. LocalInbox updates itself: the version at the bottom of the sidebar shows what changed and whether a new version is ready.

LocalInbox 1.0.4

  • A quieter message list: each message shows its sender, subject and a one-line summary, with one label at most, Suspicious or Needs reply.
  • Summaries leave out web addresses, so a newsletter shows its first sentence instead of a link.
  • Sign-in codes are in the notification and at the top of the message, no longer in the list. Numbers from footers and links aren't taken for codes any more.
  • Categories, meetings and due dates show above the subject of the open message.
  • Avatars no longer have a coloured ring. An account's colour marks it in the sidebar.
  • Company logos are now on by default (Settings › General › Show company logos).
  • Sample mail has Add Account and Leave in the sidebar, so you can leave it whenever you like.
  • Adding an account shows each service's logo.

LocalInbox 1.0.3

  • Licence keys bought at localinbox.app now activate in the app.

LocalInbox 1.0.2

  • Settings › Accounts: rename any account and give it a colour. The name and colour mark its mail in the sidebar and the message list.
  • Adding an account in Settings shows its mail straight away, instead of the sample mail.
  • A second account at the same service is named after its address, not "Gmail" again.

LocalInbox 1.0.0

  • The first release of LocalInbox: smart mail, sorted on your Mac. Primary, Updates and Promotions, To Reply, and summaries written on this Mac.
  • Every IMAP account in one inbox: Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail, Proton Mail through Bridge, Zoho, AOL, GMX and others.
  • Triage from the keyboard: E archives, S snoozes, J and K move between messages, and ⌘K finds anything.
  • Search all mail as you type from the list (⌥⌘F).
  • Attachments open in the window: PDFs with pages and zoom, and Quick Look for pictures, documents and more.
  • Draft with AI and Summarize, on this Mac, when Apple Intelligence is available.
  • Twenty themes, including two Liquid Glass themes, most in both light and dark, with twenty Mac fonts, text size, density, corners and accent colour to suit you. Reset in Appearance puts it all back.
  • Updates install from the app: the version at the bottom of the sidebar shows what changed and whether a new version is ready.
  • Opened from Downloads, LocalInbox offers to move itself to Applications: drag its icon onto the folder.
  • Free for 7 days with every feature, then one licence for up to three Macs.
