In short
LocalInbox recognises the text in image and PDF attachments on your Mac with Apple's Vision framework, and adds it to search. A scanned receipt, a photo of a whiteboard or a boarding pass PDF turns up when you search for a word in it, across every account.
Search that finds it
- Full-text search across all accounts, with from:, to:, subject:, has:attachment and file:.
- Results as you type. Return moves to them, Esc goes back.
- Text in images and PDFs is recognised on your Mac and included.
- Spotlight finds your mail by subject, sender and summary.
Attachments you can read in place
- Thumbnails for images and PDFs, and up to four picture tiles on a message's row.
- PDFs open in the window with pages, zoom and text selection; Quick Look for everything else.
- Download, or Save All, straight to Downloads without overwriting anything.
Questions
Does text recognition upload my attachments?
No. Recognition runs on your Mac with Apple's Vision framework. Attachments download from your mail server on demand, and nowhere else.
