Why we built it
Smart mail apps usually get smart by sending your messages to someone's AI cloud to be read. We think the Mac on your desk is now good enough to do that work itself. So LocalInbox does the reading on your Mac, and there's no LocalInbox server for your mail to pass through at all.
What we care about
- Local-first and private. Mail, indexes and AI stay on your Mac. Every connection the app can make is published.
- Native to the Mac. Built in Swift, not a web page in a window. Menu bar, Spotlight, Shortcuts, Focus and the Keychain all work as you'd expect.
- Keyboard-first and quiet by default. Every action has a key, and only mail from people interrupts you.
- Honest about what it does. The numbers on this site are measured, and there are no invented reviews or user counts.
- Pay once. A licence is yours, with every 1.x update. No subscription.
